TIATO is an eclectic yet modern kitchen/bar & garden venue offering fresh bites on the go, café-style seating, full-service dining, a wine/beer and Asian tapas bar, and outdoor garden seating.

TIATO is committed to buying fresh ingredients, many in support of local California farmers. Their menu includes farm-to-table produce from Weiser and Hernandez Family Farms, eggs from Sunset Ranch, and fair trade/organic coffee. Some menu items and cocktails contain herbs and produce grown on-site in

TIATO’s very own patio garden including rosemary, kale, mint and “tiato”.  Catherine An, owner, and founder chose to honor her mother and Executive Chef Helene An’s cooking by naming the restaurant after the “tía tô” leaf. The “tía tô” leaf has been used in Chef Helen’s recipes for more than a decade and is a staple ingredient of House of An concepts.

TIATO’s retail market is stocked with healthy and organic “grab on the go” snacks. Anything sold pre-packaged contains either all-natural ingredients or is labeled USDA organic. Their eco-friendly interior and exterior design integrates reclaimed wood in their wall panels, outdoor tables, and patio siding. TIATO’s patio garden also features living walls made with succulent plants which require minimal watering.

For waste reduction, TIATO not only composts pre-consumer food waste from the kitchen via Santa Monica’s R3 Organics collection program – they go the extra step by having staff separating unwanted foods and compostable items (such as paper napkins) left on dining tables. They replaced all to-go containers, utensils and straws to comply with Santa Monica’s revised Disposable Food Service Ware Ordinance. After performing energy efficiency retrofits, including the replacement of 60 halogen lamps with LEDs, TIATO saves over 7,000 kWh annually.
