The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel is a 260,000 square foot ocean-front luxury resort located in the heart of Santa Monica just blocks from the Santa Monica Pier. The hotel features 347 guest rooms,30,000 square feet of meeting space, spa services, heated pool, and fitness center. Loews Santa Monica has a long history of environmental responsibility. They were one of Santa Monica’s first luxury hotels to participate in the City’s Food Waste Organics Recycling program back in 2007. Due to the scale of their food servicing, the Loews now operates an ORCA food waste digester onsite.
With plastic pollution being a widespread problem affecting the marine environment, one of The Loews most commendable initiatives achieved with the City’s green certification is eliminating complimentary plastic water bottles in guest rooms, and providing 2 reusable glasses for refilling instead. Furthermore, they donate used uniforms, bedding, furniture, and supplies to charities in need. To support good indoor air quality, Loews uses zero VOC paint as well as a Green Seal certified and peroxide based cleaner facility wide. Loews takes a proactive approach to California’s severe drought by utilizing an on-premises laundry (OPL) that provides a more economic and environmentally friendly laundry service option than outsourcing and can process up to 6,500 pounds of laundry a day.
Energy Star® mini fridges are provided for guest rooms upon request. To promote sustainable transportation, their fleet includes several electric vehicles (EV) that are charged onsite.
