To support Santa Monica’s Climate Action & Adaptation Plan, Angeles Investments has a goal to continuously evaluate and reduce their carbon emissions related to:
- Efficient use of energy, water, and other resources
- Waste reduction measures such as re-using, recycling, and composting
- Reduce pollution with use of non-toxic, ethical, and sustainable materials
- Consideration of the environment in design, construction, and operation
To minimize waste, Angeles Investments Santa Monica supplies sparkling and still water dispensers to avoid the continuous purchase of plastic bottles. The employee kitchen is stocked with reusable food ware. Striving to be a paperless operation, all forms and documents are processed and stored electronically. To support the recycled paper industry and recycling, Angeles purchases unbleached paper products such as multi-fold and kitchen towel rolls made by Seventh Generation.
To prevent pollution, Angeles phased in non-toxic and green-certified cleaners and asked the property manager to educate janitorial staff on preferences for Green Seal, EPA Safer Choice, and EcoLogo certified products.
Angeles is committed to promoting the annual National Bike to Work Day in May, as well as their sustainable transportation incentive policy by offering one extra vacation hour each day an employee commutes to work by bike, walk, or public transportation.
*Certification involves a B impact score of 80 or above and passing a risk review. Making a legal commitment by changing the corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders. Exhibiting transparency by allowing information about our performance to be available publicly at www.bcorporation.net. The rating was given by B Lab Global on January 29, 2023, and will cover the time period from January 2023 to January 2026 at which time Angeles will be recertified. Angeles pays an annual fee to maintain this membership.
